Dr. Emil Martirosyan is not employed by Walmart. He is an independent Doctor of Optometry who chose to locate his practice inside Walmart to make care more accessible and affordable for families.
Walmart serves only as the landlord and does not influence medical decisions or treatment recommendations. Dr. Emil does not earn income from selling glasses or contact lenses: his focus is entirely on comprehensive eye exams, eye health, and personalized myopia management.
You can book an appointment directly through our DrChrono online scheduling portal, which is secure, reliable, and HIPAA-compliant to protect your personal and medical information.
We do accept walk-ins based on availability, but we highly recommend scheduling online in advance to ensure timely care and reserved appointment time.
We recommend arriving 15 minutes early for your scheduled appointment with Dr. Emil to allow time to complete all required paperwork.
Please be prepared to provide your child’s medical history, including any relevant family eye history, and to complete a myopia management intake form. During the visit, Dr. Emil will speak with both you and your child about vision concerns, daily habits, and lifestyle factors that may affect eye health.
Because myopia management is not one-size-fits-all, Dr. Emil will use this information to discuss personalized options tailored to your child’s unique needs.
Because we share our location with the Walmart Vision Center, you may see their phone number listed online. Please note that this number is not intended for Fighting Myopia inquiries. The Walmart Vision Center phone number (201) 325-9277 connects you to Walmart opticians, who assist with general questions about eye exams, glasses, and contact lenses only.
For all Fighting Myopia questions, please call our direct line: (908) 526-1515.
Calling the Fighting Myopia number ensures your questions are handled promptly by the appropriate team.
Email is the fastest and most reliable way to reach us. You may email dremil@fightingmyopia.com for the quickest response.
Email allows us to keep a clear “paper trail” so we can carefully track and document patient and family questions, requests, and concerns. Feel free to include specific questions about your child: we will respond as thoughtfully and thoroughly as possible.
The best way to assess your child’s individual risks and needs is through a consultation. Dr. Emil offers complimentary myopia management consultations so parents and caregivers can feel fully informed before deciding on treatment.
In most cases, traditional vision or medical insurance does not fully cover myopia management programs. Because myopia management goes beyond a routine eye exam, it is considered a specialty service and is often not directly covered by insurance plans.
At Fighting Myopia, we believe in full transparency. We clearly explain treatment costs upfront so families understand their options and know exactly what to expect.
Yes — but they are limited. According to the AAOMC, free strategies such as spending more time outdoors, taking breaks from near work, and practicing healthy visual habits may help support eye health and reduce the risk of developing myopia.
However, once myopia has started progressing, these measures alone are usually not enough to effectively slow it. That’s why evidence-based myopia management treatments are often recommended to better control progression and reduce long-term risks.
Yes. Most myopia management treatments are considered reversible.
These treatments are designed to help slow the progression of myopia rather than permanently change the eye.
If treatment is paused or discontinued, its effects gradually wear off and vision typically returns to the child’s baseline prescription. Guidance supported by the AAOMC emphasizes that treatment plans are flexible and can be adjusted over time based on a child’s needs, comfort, and response to care.
