Kids are spending more time on screens - and it’s affecting their vision. Holding devices close and staying indoors more often are key reasons myopia is on the rise. A few small changes today can make a big difference tomorrow.
Myopia, or nearsightedness, means your child can see up close clearly but struggles to see things far away, like the board at school, the TV, or road signs.
Glasses can correct the blurry vision, but they don’t stop myopia from getting worse. Myopia often runs in families. If one or both parents are nearsighted, there’s a greater chance their child will be too.
But it’s not just genetics—kids who spend lots of time on screens and little time outdoors are also more likely to develop myopia. Myopia usually gets worse as children grow. This happens because the eye becomes too long, which increases the risk of serious eye diseases later in life.
Whether your child already wears glasses or not, there are safe and proven ways to slow or even prevent their myopia from progressing.
During the consultation we will measure your child's eyes, including their axial length (how long they are), go over the risk level for myopia progression and the best treatment option for your child. We will provide a personalized myopia management report that shows where your child stands. Open this link for sample report https://shorturl.at/ahz7f
